What is aglione doing in a nursery? This is not a riddle, but is what the clients of Apemaia, a flower nursery company in Torrita di Siena, are probably asking themselves. And the answer is anything but obvious, because Aglione of Valdichiana is the householder here.
"Aglione has always been at home, as far as I can remember" says Federica, owner of the company: "My grandmother Bruna used to grow and sell vegetables here and aglione has always been there, as a condiment and excellent garlic substitute ". Federica's father, Claudio, then decided to increase the cultivation of this typical Tuscan product and to put it on sale in the company, together with a aglione sauce made with the traditional recipe. A great success.
From grandmother to daughter, passing through all generations, the company deals with floral design and set-ups for large events, combining the all female passion and attention to detail with the enhancement of the best local products.
