When we talk about the Il Lecceto Agricultural Cooperative we do not talk about a specific producer, but we talk about over forty producers of Extra Virgin Olive Oil who joined forces in the mid-1980s to collect and bottle one of the most important typical products of the Trequanda area and its Castelmuzio and Petroio hamlets. A community that immediately gave itself precise rules with a disciplinary active for over 30 years that guarantees that the olives are grown, harvested and pressed locally, with a small percentage of contributing members from Montisi and San Giovanni d'Asso, guaranteeing high quality standards, and then arriving in the Cooperative to be stored and bottled.
"We are sustainable by nature", says the President of the Cooperative Egidio Bianchi: "The task of the Cooperative is to deepen research and improve operating sustainability". Education in the production of excellent EVO oil is the cornerstone of this Cooperative, winner of one of the most prestigious awards in the world of oil, the Ercole Olivario Fruttato Intenso in 2000.
The President and the millers are keen to point out that the oil is tasted before being accepted by the cooperative, because the final result must be done as tradition says and above all it must be tasty!
